AMEC Establishes Southern Hub for Large Panel Display Equipment

Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. (AMEC) inaugurated its Southern China headquarters in Guangzhou's Zengcheng Economic Development Zone on September 19, 2025. The 130-acre complex will focus on developing and manufacturing large flat-panel display equipment, with phase one (50 acres) scheduled for completion by late 2026 and production starting in 2027.

The facility represents a strategic move to reduce China's reliance on imported display manufacturing equipment. AMEC plans to expand into emerging technologies including smart glass and panel-level packaging. This development strengthens the company's position in the global semiconductor equipment market while creating a regional cluster for display technology research and production.

Tiancheng Chemical Launches High-End Wet Chemicals Project

Two days prior, Tiancheng Chemical broke ground on a 38.2-acre facility in Zhuhai's Jinwan District. The Shanghai-listed company's Guangdong subsidiary will produce 30,000 tons annually of specialized electronic chemicals for semiconductors, displays, and printed circuit boards.

These high-purity solutions—including plating additives, copper deposition chemicals, and photoresist strippers—are critical for chip and display manufacturing. The project addresses China's dependence on foreign suppliers for these materials, with the new plant designed as a smart, environmentally friendly facility serving domestic and Southeast Asian markets.

Guizhou Yuhui Advances Mini LED Packaging Technology

On the same day in Guiyang, Guizhou Yuhui Electronic began construction on an R&D and smart manufacturing center focused on Chip-on-Board (COB) packaging for Mini LEDs. The technology enables brighter, higher-contrast displays with wider color ranges, positioning it as a leading candidate for next-generation visual applications.

The facility will accelerate production of commercial display solutions, including specialized panels for high-end conference systems. This investment supports the broader commercialization of Mini LED technology while contributing to Guizhou province's advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Building a Self-Sufficient Display Ecosystem

These coordinated developments—spanning equipment, materials, and packaging—reflect China's comprehensive strategy to establish an independent display technology supply chain.
